ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Sam.

I first started practicing yoga in 2005. I’d never been particularly fit or enjoyed group exercise classes and over the years had sustained a number of injuries. Yet suddenly in yoga I discovered a practice that made me feel stronger and more flexible whilst respecting my body.

In 2013 my son was born and my yoga practice lapsed - as a busy and tired new mum I just couldn’t find the time. I was exhausted and busy doing things for everyone else. When I got back on my mat I felt like me again and realised what I’d been missing.

In 2018 I undertook my 200 hour YTT in Hatha yoga, despite the voices in my head telling me I wasn’t good enough, had too many injuries and am too shy to stand in front of a room full of people teaching yoga. Since my initial training I have completed additional trainings in Yin Yoga, yoga nidra, menopause awareness and somatic movement. I will always be a student of yoga and never stop learning.

My own practice has changed over the years and I have really learnt to listen to my body and practice what I need in the moment. I encourage my students to do the same.

My classes are gentle, friendly and welcoming. I like to use props in my classes (things like blocks and straps) and set classes to a relaxing soundtrack.

Life can sometimes feel like it takes a lot out of us and I believe that yoga is a great way of giving back to ourselves. My hope is that you step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished and balanced.

Love and light,

Sam
